Hermeneutical Spiral

By Matthew J. Andrews

He draws a tunnel of constricting coils,

at the center writes: truth.

I turn my worn bible upside down

in the bathtub, let it fill with ink,

watch letters swirl in a tightening pillar –

their bleeding, dark; the drain, darker still.
