Isaac Re-digs His Father’s Wells

by Desi Ana Sartini

The Philistines stopped them all up.

You’d think they would have taken them over,

but they stopped them all up.

To break our claim on the land.

To reneg on their pact with my father.

So now I re-dig,

reaching down into the earth

to release forgotten springs,

in the presence of my enemies.

My cup shall again be full.
